Jen Schefft & Joe Waterman
Looks like The Bachelorette, Jen Schefft, will finally get her happily ever after…and it’s not with The Bachelor star, Andrew Firestone (who recently got married to Ivana Bozilovic). Reality television obviously wasn’t Schefft’s ticket to finding her soul mate. After starring in The Bachelorette and not finding her true love, Schefft put together the tips and lessons she had learned on her journeys into a self-help book “Better Single Than Sorry: A No-Regrets Guide to Loving Yourself and Never Settling.” Now, she’s starting the next chapter of her life with her soon-to-be husband, Joe Waterman.
Schefft reveals to People magazine, "I'm so excited and so happy. We really get each other. I guess it's true things move fast when you meet the right person." The happy couple, who live in Chicago, is planning to tie the knot sometime in 2009. She’s planning on keeping it small with only 50-60 guests attending. "We want to keep it small and intimate.” Schefft and Waterman have been together since February of 2008. They met on a blind date that was set up by their matchmaker. According to Schefft, before they met, she had gone on another blind date, but there were no sparks.
According to Usmagazine.com, Schefft knew marriage was on the cards, but he managed to propose unexpectedly. She said she was, “so surprised” when he asked her to marry him. “We had talked about it and I knew it was coming, so I didn’t think he could do anything to surprise me, but he did!”
When asked about wedding plans,” We’re still in the early stages of planning, but most likely we’ll do it next spring in Chicago,” she tells Us. “We’re going to keep it small and intimate - just really close family and friends.”
On The Bachelor Schefft accepted the last rose and an engagement ring from Firestone and moved all the way from her home and family in Chicago to San Francisco to be with him. It wasn’t for long because after only a few months, the engagement was off. After the break-up, Schefft starred in her own reality television show, “The Bachelorette” to find her own true love.
Unfortunately, she was not able to find her prince charming on this show either; she ended up turning down two marriage proposals throughout the duration of the show. Her book, “Better Single Than Sorry,” explains to women that no one should accept a mediocre relationship, always striving to find the right person for them. Schefft is currently working as the director of ad sales for Heavy.com, Waterman is a trader.
According to Waterman, he didn’t know much about his future wife from her television shows. He does, however, know to avoid the dreaded flower when it comes to gifts. “He gives me flowers but never roses.”
On a side note, it has been confirmed that Schefft’s ex-fiancé, Andrew Firestone, is now expecting a child with his new wife. Looks like happily ever afters for all!
