Wedding Dress 911
published August 19th, 2013
A bride-to-be found a fairy godmother masquerading as a 911 operator when she called to report the theft of her wedding dress earlier this month.
“I'm calling to report my stuff stolen. My uh ... My wedding dress!" sobbed the bride, who had the dress stolen out of a car just prior to the ceremony in Washington, DC.
“And are you getting married today?” asked the operator.
“Yes” croaked the bride, obviously very anxious at this point.
“What size is your dress?” asked the operator, who had tied the knot the previous year.
Upon discovering the two were the same size, the 911 operator rushed her dress to the church just in time for a quick change so that the ceremony could commence.
Speaking after the event, Candice, the 911 operator who took the call said "All through the call I was thinking, 'I have a dress ...'" So with her supervisor's approval, Candice offered the woman her gown. She gratefully accepted Candice's offer and was married in the borrowed dress, sending photos and thanks the next day. "Candice is an extraordinary person," her supervisor said. "She had something someone else needed, and she made it happen."
The bride certainly had “something borrowed” covered for her big day.
