![]() TRADITIONAL WEDDING ATTIRE
With the focus of the day being centered on the Bride & Groom, this is probably the most important outfit they will ever get to wear! Whatever the latest trends and fashions are for wedding attire, the most important thing is to choose a look and style that reflects your personality, and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed on your special day. Make a fashion statement with daring colors or a uniquely styled outfit, and you’ll be the talk of the town. Celebrities are well known proponents of using Wedding garb to express their personality: Courtney Cox wed in a long sleeved white gown, displaying true elegance and simplicity, whilst Kate Hudson mirrored her romantic and traditionalist nature with an ivory, strapless satin ball gown complete with hand stitched corset bodice, inspired by Cinderella. Styles that are on trend this season are elegant strapless wedding gowns, which work well for a vintage themed wedding. If femininity is more your thing, ribbons, ruffles, bows and dainty sleeves are making a comeback on wedding dresses. Alternatively, if you are out to make a bold statement, the curvy mermaid look is becoming popular. Whatever style you choose, Glamour is the buzzword. Adding co lour to an all white dress is growing in popularity, although probably more suited to the more modern as opposed to traditional bridal gown. Popular ways of incorporating a splash of co lour are through the use of sashes or embroidery. There is also a growing trend to forego the white wedding dress, and go for full-on co lour Blue, pink, cappuccino and champagne are the most popular shades, although even black accents featured on the runways. Gwen Stefani chose her signature co lour for her bridal attire, resulting in a traditional dress in various shades of pink. A pink cotton dress with pearls and beading was chosen by Julia Roberts, in keeping with the mid-summer atmosphere of her outdoor wedding. Sarah Jessica Parker opted for a simple black dress with full skirt when she wed Matthew Broderick portraying a classic elegant look. As the back of the wedding dress is what guests look at during the wedding ceremony, brides are adding detail to the back of their dress using embroidery or lace and deep V backs are also popular. Lace is a growing trend as it's linked to femininity and romance. Although strapless dresses are still popular, more dainty cap sleeves are making an appearance, as well as an off the shoulder look. The Groom’s attire can vary from the traditional tux, to the elegant morning suit, but the strongest contender is still the suit. The co lour of the ensemble and coordinating accessories is what helps to make the outfit modern. With a tux, a colorful bow tie and cummerbund can be used to update the look. Although dove gray waistcoats are the traditional co lour to be worn with the morning suit, current trend is to add a dash of color with navy blue being the most popular. Tom Cruise for example wore a navy Armani tuxedo at his wedding. Brown is becoming a popular alternative suit co lour with tonal accessories, and if waistcoats are worn, plain styles that tie in with the wedding colors are replacing busy embroideries. As with the bride’s dress, the most important thing when the Groom is choosing his wedding attire is to reflect his personality, and make sure he feels comfortable. Footballer Ashley Cole wore a silver suit with white tie, whereas Kid Rock chose a more classic outfit of black tuxedo but accessorized with tennis shoes! For bridesmaids, bold and bright is the co lour to choose for an updated look. The trend is still for all the bridesmaids to wear the same co lour, but to differ the style of their outfits, as what suits one figure does not necessarily suit all! The length of the bridesmaid dress is getting shorter with mid calf the most popular look at the moment. Stylish and chic are the buzzwords for the mothers of the bride and groom. Choose colors that compliment their coloring, and don’t clash with the co lour scheme of the wedding. The most important thing to remember is for all wedding outfits to coordinate with the theme of the wedding, and match with individual’s personalities. If you are having a traditional wedding, then a black wedding dress may not be appropriate. If you are having an informal, relaxed beach wedding, a Cinderella gown may be too much!![]() Pre-wedding events Roles & responsibilities Traditional wedding attire Wedding accessories Wedding flowers Wedding favors Wedding Planning Tools The wedding ceremony The wedding reception Wedding stationery Wedding website Wedding gift registry Wedding photo/videography Wedding music Wedding legalities Catering for your wedding |
